My son was born in 2012. In 2013 I successfully completed my PhD after six years of coursework, exams, teaching, and writing…and I decided not to go on the academic job market. In fact, I decided not to pursue any type of full time employment, opting instead to stay home almost full-time with my son. Yes, I realize I am blessed to have the option! I began this blog intending to focus on the joys and challenges of “leaning out”: leaning out of the American workforce, yes, but also attempting to lean out of the world of high-pressure, competitive parenting. In actuality I write about whatever strikes my fancy: amusing kid anecdotes, my take on current events and pop culture, exercise, my struggle with secondary infertility…you know, riveting stuff. Basically, like all of us, I am just making this up as I go along. Won’t you join me?
